Jolanda Linschooten is a long term friend of ours. She is a dutch journalist and explorer with a busy schedule and many adventures in her past, present and future! This is her own words from her last trip with her husband Frank van Zwol to Yukon Territories:
"During 2 months of living in the outdoors, Hilleberg’s Nallo 2 GT was our home. A sturdy yet lightweight place to relax after a long day out. A safe place too, where we would hide when the weather turned really bad.
Together with husband Frank van Zwol and my husky Herschel, I traversed Canada’s Yukon Territories on foot and by canoe for about 1400 km.
First we followed the more travelled ‘paths’ like the Chilkoot Trail and followed the Yukon River from its headwater lakes untill Dawson City. Those 4 weeks were merely holidaytime with lots of sunshine.
The last and most tough part of our trip, a month on foot through the Ogilvie Mountains from Dawson to Old Crow – a wilderness seldom traversed by men – was were we got to appreciate our Nallo at its best.
Lots of heavy weatherdays kept us tentbound. Rivers flooded. We could not reach our food-dropping-point in time and had to survive by picking berries and shooting grouse whenever possible.
When things get worse, it becomes important that there are a few things that you know, you still can look forward to. Like the moment every evening that I closed the tentdoorzipper and it was just the three of us in our small home.
Still on the go.
Still happy to be out there."
